Edgar qualified from Queens University, School of Medicine in 1999, and trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology through the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency from 2003 to 2013. During that time, Edgar completed an Advanced Gynaecology Surgery Fellowship in Toronto, Canada from 2010 to 2012, specialising in Pelvic Floor Surgery and Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery (MIGS).
Edgar was admitted onto the Specialist Registrar of the GMC in 2013, and took up a Consultant position in Craigavon Area Hospital. He is an Undergraduate Lecturer for Queens University, has presented internationally on gynaecology, and most recently published on complex pelvic floor injuries in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (US).
In 2014 alone, Edgar performed over 500 procedures, including 40 hysterectomies, 30 suspensions and 30 continence procedures.
